The Antares Deluxe 50 Watt is an SLO-inspired amp, but not a clone. The clean channel is based on a Fender AB763 circuit. It features a used vintage Triad-14 A power transformer, a used vintage Triad C 14 A choke, and a used vintage S-146A output transformer. While the production Antares comes with EL34s, this Special Build has vintage GE 6L6GCs Made in the USA.
This is the first build of the new version of the Antares. While the fundamental tone of the lead and clean channels has not changed, there are several quality improvements:
Sturdier Chassis: It now features a .080" zinc-plated steel chassis, which is much more rugged than the original .063" aluminum.
Finer Adjustments: The response control (negative feedback) is now on a potentiometer for finer adjustment instead of a toggle switch.
Soft Switching: Channel switching now utilizes transistor-driven soft switching, allowing for LED indicators on both the footswitch and the front panel.
Expanded Outputs: The rear panel is more accommodating for multiple speaker cabinets. While previous models had standard 4, 8, and 16-ohm outputs, this new version features 1×4 ohm (or 2×8 ohm), 1×8 ohm (or 2×16 ohm), and 1×16 ohm jacks.
FX Loop: The standard FX loop is included, but the Send Level and Bypass switch—normally a $100 option available only on pre-orders—comes built into this Special Build at no extra cost!
Solo Boost: The Solo Boost is also normally a $100 pre-order option, but it is included on this Special Build at no extra cost!
